Let’s work together to explore the options available and find the best solution for your loved ones well-being and comfort.

With your new role as a family caregiver. It is completely normal to feel overwhelmed at first, but don’t worry we are here to help.  Here are some tips to guide you through this new journey.

  • Learn as much as you can about the disease.  A loved one’s doctor can offer you valuable resources and educational materials to guide you in understanding what is expected and to help build your confidence in your role as a caregiver.  Do not hesitate to reach out to them for support and information as you navigate through this journey.
  • Get organized. By keeping all your important medical paperwork organized, create a designated folder. By including test results, prescription details, contact information for all physicians’ offices and all pharmacies that are used, along with any other relevant medical information. Also by starting a journal to track any changes of their condition or any concerns that may come up, writing down all the details related to these changes.
  • Set aside past hurts.  When facing a new diagnosis, it is common for old family dynamics to resurface. If unresolved issues are hindering your ability to provide the best care, by considering getting support from a professional counselor. They can help you and your loved ones to work through these challenges and ensure you can give your loved one the care they are needing.
  • Establish boundaries together. By having a discussion with a senior to understand their needs and preferences regarding the type and amount of care they are wanting,  would be the most beneficial. It is important to set a balance between offering support and allowing a loved one to retain their independence and control.
  • Take care of yourself, too. It is important to remember to take care of yourself. By prioritizing self-care, you ensure you can provide the best care for seniors. Do not hesitate to seek support from those around you to make time for your own well-being each day.

It is important to recognize the signs of caregiver burnout and depression, and to address them promptly. Some warning signs are:
